Way back in September (and it seems so long ago, although time is going so fast….) we found our way to a Mexican grocery store. Since then I have found canned black beans for a somewhat reasonable price, but when we finish up the chipotles, we’ll probably go back to that store.
Yesterday we found our way into a Thai grocery store – the Chiang Mai Thai Shop.
I think we had not been there because I thought it was only a restaurant. You can certainly go to the counter and order food for Take Away (as the sign indicates) or eat in. (Find a chair and if there’s a table, grab it. If not, take a chair over to the freezer and use it as a table.)
Our mission was to find ingredients for a recipe called Mah-Meeh. We had eaten it at the Turnip Festival a few weeks ago, and my theory was that if it was made in Switzerland, the ingredients for it should be here. We found a recipe by Betty Bossi, a Swiss cookbook publisher – think Betty Crocker in a dirndl.
We actually DID find all the ingredients we wanted here, and many others. The prices were not outrageous, so we will undoubtedly be back.
