In America I had heard of Lindt Chocolates, and when I moved to Zürich, the name with the most prestige in chocolates seemed to be Sprüngli. Apparently the two companies merged back in 1899. More recently this chocolate giant has also acquired the Austrian chocolatier Hofbauer as well as the San Francisco favorite, Ghirardell and Russell Stover.
The United Bern and Zurich Lindt & Sprungli Chocolate Factory Ltd. (Lindt for short) is headquartered just down the Zürich Lake a little ways in Kilchberg. And what do you know? They have a factory shop there!
Right now they have an additional show room with sales for Christmas. It seems to carry much of the same chocolate products as in the regular sales room, but the Christmas market room is much more beautifully decorated.
The decorations outside let you know you are in the right place.
So many chocolate bears and Santas under the tree!
Now that I know about this place, if you come visit us here, we’ll just have to go!
