Last year when I was dreaming about living in Zürich, I looked at pictures online (like these ones) and thought about how pretty this city would look in December. Now that I’m here, I know just where those pictures were taken, and I have taken a few photos myself. It really is a beautiful city.
Here’s the Märlitram which, for 8 CHF will take your child for a 20-minute ride. It is driven by Samichlaus and there are angels to help with story-telling and goodie-giving.
Here is the Singing Christmas Tree. Different choirs on different days sign up to entertain the crowds. We heard this group sing “Angels We Have Heard On High” in German (except for the Gloria in Excelsis Deo part).
Here are some lovely decorations in SihlCity.
Lights outside at SihlCity
The Christmas Tree in front of Sprüngli.
I absolutely love the Lucy lights downtown, although I am going to try to get some better pictures of them. They make it feel like a fairyland.
This is the Christmas Pyramid outside one of the train stations. I have not tried the glühwein there, yet.
The Fondue Tram.
The gift-wrapping station
The larger-than-life wrapped boxes displayed by UBS. Peek inside.
As you can see, we don’t have snow. They keep thinking it will, but it’s never quite cold enough.
