Swiss Names

When Lynn was here, she asked me what typical Swiss names are, and I have to say I don’t have a huge database of knowledge to draw from. So, of course, I looked it up.

This official website lists the “Hitparade” of popular names given to newborns of German-speaking parents in 2011-13.

In the orchestra are a set of other names, probably more popular various decades ago. Some of the names, like Barbara, Anna, Monika, Nicole, Olivia, Katharin, Marguerite, Sibylle, and Nathan, are familiar to me. Luzi, Vreny, Ursin, Flurina, Maarit, and Marlies are new names for my repertoire.
