Family Matters Across the Sea

One of the drawbacks of living the expat life is that when news happens at home in your family or with friends, you are not there to share life events.

Fortunately, no one in our family has gotten sick or had any troubles, so we’ve only had minor pangs of longing during holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving.

IMG_0665On Wednesday we got a phone call from our daughter C, who we had just seen 11 days earlier, announcing that she and B had just eloped and were now married. What a happy surprise! They had known when they were visiting us that they were going to elope on July 15, but had told no one. I do not know how they kept it a secret while they were here, but we had no idea.

We look forward to seeing them in a few weeks to celebrate in person!
